{Becky Said} Into the Wild (Bathroom Blunder)

{She Introduces} I have wanted to feature a guest blog for some time now and when this story presented itself, I thought, “man, the readers have to hear this!” So without much further ado, here is Sister Boo with her very own ray of sunshine from our trip…

First off, I want to thank Jen and Matt for asking me to guest blog for them. Saying this, I do realize that the humor pulled from this will be at my expense. I would also like to preface this with the fact that I completely blame this situation on Jenny with no blame on myself. I have been asked to share my first opposite sex bathroom experience. I bet that has happened to a lot of you where you walked in to a bathroom and realized it doesn’t look right... but you probably walked out immediately. Well that wasn’t my experience on Thursday morning at the McDonalds in West Yellowstone.

After ordering our food, I scanned the restaurant looking for Jen and decided that her pea size bladder must have been acting up so I went to go find her in the bathroom. As I was walking to the back, I got distracted by the McDonalds worker putting a broom in the closet and went for the door most out of his way. I walked in (in my pink shirt no doubt) and saw that the stall door was shut. So I naturally assumed it was Jenny. I started fixing my hair and collecting my thoughts in order to have a conversation with her. Just then the male worker walked in the bathroom and said “ma’am?” Assuming he wanted to come in and clean, I quickly informed him that there was someone in the bathroom to protect my sister from embarrassment. I then looked through the crack in the stall to make sure someone was there and again informed him that “Yes someone is in here.”

With a confused face, the worker backed out of the bathroom. I finished adjusting my hair, proud of my response to this situation. Just before I was going to pull up my dress to fix my pink shirt underneath, I noticed that, to my left, there was a urinal. Mind you there was someone (I now assume, hopefully a man) in there with me during this so I quickly ran out of the room across the tiny hall to the women’s restroom and nearly screamed “JEN?” No response. And that is how we lost Jen in West Yellowstone.

Just kidding… So I walked back into the restaurant where the worker was gathering the other worker bees into a small group, looking at me, and laughing. So I got my orange juice from my dad and spent the rest of my breakfast in the car. A couple words of advice for all the rest of you public restroom goers: To be safe, even if you think you know which room is your correct assignment, go ahead and just check. Secondly, never follow someone else in to the restroom if you don’t actually need to use it. There is no reason and you will ultimately end up looking like a fool!
