{She Said} Personalized Cry

Everyone says that babies alter their cry to be the most irritating to you so that you respond quicker. Of course this is a learned behavior whereas the child cries and cries and gets louder and to different pitches until finally you respond and pick up or tend to the child. The next time he or she cries, they just start off at the point that you responded last time. Thus they have catered their cry to whatever irritates you most.


I can’t decide if, knowing this information, I want to respond quickly so that the cry I get isn’t irritating. Or never respond to crying at all with the, “he can just sit there and cry because he is NOT going to outsmart me” mentality.

We’ll see. Unfortunately I think the baby is going to win. Dang it.
