{She Said} I'm a Player

I'm going to let a secret out here that is very painful for me to reveal. I am a Mario hustler. I look very unintimidating to the average game player but put me on a Mario game and I can usually hold my own, if not wipe the floor with the other players. I can see secret passage ways from afar. I can predict whether a question mark box is going to hold a mushroom/flower/other special item specific to the game or one measly coin. I know many of you that are of the same generation as me may be thinking... HEY- I can do those things too. Well, I am glad someone can relate to my very specific talent.

All that being said, I got Super Mario Bros for the Wii in my stocking this Christmas and I LOVE IT. It has the feel of the old school Super Mario World (my personal favorite Mario game) but you can play with up to four players on a screen at once. I have only played with Matt and the screen gets a little hectic with just the two of us so it will be interesting to get to play with more. The commercials positioned the multi-player as more of a competitive thing- knock your friends off the screen, block players from getting items, etc. Matt and I play cooperatively and I like that much better. Now I'm not saying a push or a block isn't thrown in there periodically but never-the-less we generally play cohesively and it is really a lot of fun.

My favorite parts of the game so far:
- world maps so you can see where you are going and where you have been as well as play levels multiple times to try to get new 1ups etc.
-many bonus rounds, giving you many opportunities to increase your number of lives or get useful items

-hint and special powers videos that show you how to do tricky things in specific lands

-playing with Matt and one of us not having to just sit and watch (which usually ended up being Matt because I am a control freak when it comes to Mario- and only when it comes to Mario ahem)

As I said before- two enthusiastic thumbs up!
