Background: in my class, students take attendance and then inform me of who is absent and was tardy. In 8th period, “Student A” takes attendance…

Student A: Mrs. Gilpin, if you are ready for attendance, Student B was tardy… trouble maker.
To this, I replied: Yea, that Student B (notoriously NOT a trouble maker).
Student A: Student B denied me of my RIGHTS!
Student B: You were talking about ear lobes.
Student A: That is my RIGHT!
