{She Said} No Guts, No...

Today the students had a test review due for a completion grade. One dude (of many actually) didn’t have his. Later in the period when I was giving the students time to study silently, I looked over and dude was sitting with his binder closed just chilling. The following interaction occurred:


Me: “Dude, it is very gutsy to be sitting there doing nothing when you didn’t have your review here today.”


Dude (smiling): “I’ve got guts.”


Me (smiling): “And you’ve got another thing coming too…”

A clever response from dude but not a very smart one.
