{She Said} Positivity... Effective?

It seems that, soon after providing POSITIVE FEEDBACK, my students usually are engaging in the opposite negative action.

For example: The students are doing a good job working silently and diligently. I point out and praise them for their diligent work and following directions. Within five minutes they are talking and getting off task.

I’m just sayin’... maybe positive feedback isn’t as effective as we thought it was. Maybe people really do need a swiftly negative kick in the pants. I’m just sayin’.
