The other day, I got an e-mail from a parent telling me that their child’s book was falling apart and that when the parent told the student to talk to me about it, the parent got the impression that the student was afraid to talk to me about it. This student has an aide that works with him and so I asked the aide about him being scared to talk to me as I have never gotten that impression from him. The aide said that she had discussed this book issue with the student and he had told her that he would talk to me but he just didn’t want to stress me out.
That was very considerate of him.
Additionally, that same student said to that same aide today after taking his test for my class that he remembered the material from the test partially because he studied and partially because of my sense of humor about things in class.
See... I'm funny! Or just a master at what I do. Maybe both. You Pick.
UPDATE: the student did get a new book and he is very proud of it. We have actually had several conversations about the new book and how cool it is. It’s the little things.
