So we are driving along the other day and enter into a construction zone. I politely remind The Man to slow down since we are in a work zone and he, in no uncertain terms, says that no work is being done here. I look around and indeed- no work appears to be getting done. Finally, as we continue along still in the construction zone, I find one lone guy that evidently didn’t get the “we don’t actually work in work zones” memo. Jokes on him.
Come to think of it, I rarely see work being done in construction zones. This is why it is so hard for us to actually slowdown in those areas. If I genuinely saw guys working alongside the road, I would want to slow down for those fellows. But when I am just being asked to slow down to basically bask in the fact that my city is acknowledging that improvements need to be made just by making things worse for me, I tend to not respond by doing what they ask of me.
Don’t get me wrong- I really try to obey they unnecessarily imposed rule but 20 miles per hour is SO SLOW. And the person behind me is always acting like I have chosen to go this slow by my own volition and that they just might punish me by kissing my bumper if I slow down any further. I really don’t want them to hate me!
