{She Said} What Being Iced In Looks Like Here

Had 4, count ‘em FOUR, snow days this week. The ice blew in Monday night and that set the pace for me to be home with the man for the remainder of the week.

On the first morning I stayed busy trying to get things done with this gift of a day. Then, around 2 p.m., I got the call that we would be out Wednesday so I took the rest of the day off and that is pretty much how the remainder of the days went. I got a lot of laundry done, cleaned the kitchen a couple times, cooked (oh yea, you read it right), finished designing the baby quilt, got some packages together, and much much more. That all sounds beautifully productive but, remember, I had 4 days off and that is only about a days worth of productivity.
We did a lot of bumming around. This was a gift that we (really I) don’t often give ourselves because we feel the confines of needing to get certain things done on my two days off per week. Our bumming consisted of playing Mario, watching movies, catching up on the DVR, reading, chatting, and snuggles. We spent the whole snow break sitting on our chair together in front of the fire reveling in our sans-child days, as they are numbered. While I have heard others complain about cabin fever, I did not, at any point, suffer from this affliction.

We did venture out once. I will say that this limited need to leave the house is due to my very proactive husband going to the store Monday when I told him that we had weather blowing in. He fully outfitted us with snacks, sweets, ingredients for meals, and plenty of firewood. Our only outing was for Matt to get a consultation with an oral surgeon to get his wisdom teeth out (yep, he’s excited). The roads were pretty much solid ice. I had to consciously refrain from gripping the door handle and/or making startling noises when I thought Matt was driving too close or not leaving enough breaking distance. We made it home unscathed.

Bottom line: it’s been beautiful… a very good first iced-in episode for little Zach indeed.

Yea! That is an awesome gift to get some alone time and productive time unexpectedly. Only sad we weren't there snowed in with you!
