Texas State Fair '14

State Fair was a blast as always... but this year, Zach was REALLY feeling it... until he got tired... but that's another story. We really have the State Fair thing down- we know where to park, we have our patterns, we know what we like to do and what isn't as fun for us... all this usually leads to a pretty good run at The Fair every year, and this was no exception.

This was the first year we rode the Sky Way. You ride in these little cars that lift you up over the fair and bring you to the opposite side of the Midway. It's a bit pricey so Matt walked across the Midway and met us on the other side. We rode with our buddies, the Semi, and luckily we got what is called "the party car" so we could all fit in one car. Z loved being high up and loved looking down on all the rides.

This is actually another thing we hadn't done before. There was a sculpture garden off to the side and the kiddos really loved running and playing around the sculptures. And sitting under them. I like this pic because the stance and facial expression really makes it look as if the bull is protecting my children.

 

Z pushed a tree back up into place.

 

Of course, Z loved the cars and pretending to drive and ride in them.

 

Boo is always a good sport with the Z man.

 

So, Z got pretty tired toward the end of the day. We are in that middle phase of, he really doesn't need a stroller for the day but it is ALOT of walking for his little legs and, let's face it, he's getting big, so carrying him around is a bit more of a task. We went to listen to one of our favorite bands play- the Killdares, and he just danced and danced and danced and when it was time to go... he was not a happy camper. So Ryan gave him a lift.

 

But never fear, the mood was fixed by some rides on the way out.

Again, this was a year where Z really got it. He has always enjoyed things like The Fair but this year he knew what he did (and sometimes didn't) want to do and you could tell he was really taking everything in and loving it. I am blessed to have a highly enthusiatic child that makes things like this SO fun for everyone around him. You really get to relive childhood through his eyes when you do fun things like this with him!
